At Deborah Lister Academy of Dance we offer a wide range of dance classes for children of all ages in our own studio in St Helens, Merseyside.
We provide a supportive, friendly environment for our pupils to develop. We strive to achieve the very best from each individual regardless of their ability, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
All classes are designed to encourage confidence, performance and a love of dance.
Shows are held every two years at the prestigious St Helens Theatre Royal as well as performances at the Liverpool Empire Theatre and Brindley Theatre.

Our shows include a wide range of dance styles across all of our classes. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Modern, Contemporary, Drama, Musical Theatre and more.

Our Principal
Deborah Clayton
Deborah trained at the Moor Park Dance Centre at Preston College. Here she completed a full time course for professional dancers and teachers of dance.
Deborah was awarded her teaching qualifications by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and the Royal Academy of Dance.
Her professional career began as a dancer for the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and was later contracted to dance on the Renaissance Cruise Liners.
Deborah is the principal and founder of The Deborah Lister Academy of Dance based in St. Helens. The dance academy has 21 years of success and has a reputation of providing expert tuition in all dance and musical theatre genres.
Most recently Deborah has been approved to become an RAD Mentor for dance teachers studying the Royal Academy of Dance CBTS.
I’ve been lucky enough to be a member of the DLAD family for the last 10 years. I remember feeling excited about attending my first beginners ballet and tap class and still feel that buzz of excitement now every time I walk through the doors.
All the teachers are like family and are so helpful. They are always looking after you. I have also made some amazing friendships that I wouldn’t have made if it hadn’t have been for DLAD which are friendships I know will last a lifetime.

We also offer our studio for hire whenever we aren't running our own classes.
